While I’m on the topic of killer7, I’d like to say the scariest part of that game for me was actually when you get your character killed in gameplay. No, it’s not the Heaven Smiles or the creepy atmosphere. It’s just seeing the disembodied head of a Smith on an expanse of white, and then they make a face of terror while this screeching noise plays and the kanji for “death” splatters red on the screen.

Whenever I died in killer8, I just reset the damn game before I had to see that, and anyways, hell if I was gonna let Garcie go out to retrieve the body with his peashooter.
